This page will explain the fundamental concepts of the Aero Data Platform.

The Customer Activity Stream

At the core of Aero is the Customer Activity Stream, a single, chronological feed of every interaction - structured & unstructured - a customer has with your business. Whether they visit your website, open a marketing email, or make a purchase, each event is captured and added to the stream. This provides a powerful, unified view of the entire customer journey. Here’s a simplified example of what an activity stream for a single customer might look like: Customer Stream Each activity in the stream is enriched with important details:
  • Timestamp (ts): When the activity happened.
  • Activity: What the customer did (e.g., visited_website, customer_paid).
  • Source: Where the activity originated (e.g., your website, Stripe, Hubspot).
  • Customer ID: A unique identifier for the customer. This can be an anonymous ID (like an IP address or ga_id) before the customer is identified.
  • Features: A flexible set of additional properties for metadata and enrichment.

Gaining Insights from the Stream

By unifying all customer data into a single stream, you can start to uncover powerful insights:
  • Understand the full customer journey: See every touchpoint, from the first anonymous website visit to becoming a loyal customer.
  • Attribute revenue to marketing: Connect marketing activities directly to revenue-generating events like customer_paid.
  • Improve customer support: Give your support team a complete history of every customer interaction to resolve issues faster.
  • Predict and prevent churn: Identify patterns in the activity stream that lead to churn and proactively engage at-risk customers.
This rich, unified data stream is the foundation for the next core concept in Aero.

The Aero ID Graph

One of the most powerful features of the Aero Data Platform is its ability to create a unified view of your customers. We do this through a system called the ID Graph. To understand how we resolve customer identities and how you can use this to your advantage in your analysis, please read our detailed guide on the Aero ID Graph.
